Welcome to The Teacher’s Compass Bulletin!
A new kind of support for teachers who feel lost, stuck or burnt out.
If you’re a teacher who feels like you’ve lost yourself somewhere along the way… this is for you.
Welcome to The Teacher’s Compass Bulletin – a space created to support educators who are exhausted, overwhelmed or quietly wondering if they can keep going like this.
My name’s Louise, and I was a music teacher for over 20 years. I loved my job, but I also lost myself in it.
Like many, I poured every ounce of energy into my students, leaving little for myself.
When my mental health started to decline, I kept pushing through, because that’s what teachers do… until I couldn’t anymore.
I left the classroom last year, not because I stopped caring, but because I finally realised I needed to care for myself too.
Since then, I’ve retrained as a life coach and launched The Teacher’s Compass - a podcast, community and membership space that helps teachers prioritise their mental health, reconnect with who they are outside of their job title and find clarity on what’s next.
This blog will be updated monthly, and will offer you:
Reflections on the realities of teaching life - the good, the bad and the quietly heartbreaking
Practical tips for protecting your wellbeing in and out of school
Stories from others navigating similar journeys
And occasional resources, journal prompts or gentle challenges to support your growth
Whether you’re looking to stay in teaching but need to find your joy again, or you're wondering if it's time to explore something new, you're not alone. This is your compass, here to guide you back to you.
Thanks so much for being here. I can’t wait to support you.

Louise Schwartz
Former music teacher with over 20 years of experience working in primary, middle and SEND schools in the UK. A few years ago, Louise was struggling - mentally, emotionally and professionally. That’s when the idea for The Teacher’s Compass began to take shape. She wanted to create a space where teachers could reconnect, feel valued and know that they’re not alone.
