September is here – new pencils, fresh notebooks and new faces in the classroom.
It’s meant to feel like a new beginning… but for many teachers and TAs it can also bring a quiet heaviness.
If you’ve already felt that familiar tightness in your chest or the weight of the endless to-do list, please know this: you’re not broken, you’re not weak and you are certainly not alone.
I hear from teachers every single week who are feeling exactly like you might be feeling right now - overwhelmed, exhausted and wondering how they’ll keep this up until Christmas (never mind the end of the school year).
This is why I do the work I do. Because your wellbeing matters. Not just for your students, not just for your school, but for you. You deserve to feel calm, supported and steady as the term unfolds.
The Teacher's Compass is as a safe space for teachers and TAs to exhale, share their struggles, celebrate their wins and remind one another that we’re all human.
If this September already feels heavy, you have two gentle ways to take care of yourself right now:
💛 Join the Facebook Community – connect with others who truly understand, find encouragement and know you don’t have to face this term alone.
💛 Take the Burnout Quiz – spend just a couple of minutes checking in with yourself. You’ll discover where you are on the burnout scale and receive personalised suggestions to help you feel more supported.
Whether you choose to connect with others, reflect quietly on where you are, or do both, this is your reminder that you don’t have to carry everything by yourself.
This term, let’s make space for rest, joy and feeling like you again.
I'd love to hear about the types of things that you are choosing to do for your time.
Drop me an email to hello@theteacherscompass.com or get in touch through my social media channels to let me know how you are putting yourself first.
Thanks so much for being here. I can’t wait to support you.
